Top Financial News Site CBS MarketWatch.com Adds Backflip
Backflip's Service Integrated into Every Story Page, Allowing Readers to Save What's Important to Them with a Single Click
San Francisco, CA -- February 23, 2000 -- Backflip, Inc. (www.backflip.com), which allows users to easily create their own personal Yahoo-style searchable directory, today announced the integration of its service into the CBS MarketWatch.com site (http://cbs.marketwatch.com), the Web's leading financial news site, according to the December Media Metrix report.
With the agreement, visitors to the CBS MarketWatch.com site can save -- or "backflip" -- articles as they read them, and then easily find them again using Backflip's powerful organizing and full-text searching capabilities. The CBS MarketWatch.com site joins SF Gate, MP3.com, Redherring.com and UpsideToday.com as members of the Backflip Network.
"We're gratified by the reception the Backflip Network has received since it launched three weeks ago," said Tim Hickman, CEO and co-founder of Backflip, Inc. "CBS MarketWatch.com has readers who are hungry for information and analysis, and the free Backflip service helps those readers easily organize and search that information in a highly personal way."
"We think visitors to our CBS MarketWatch.com site are going to find Backflip's services are an ongoing asset," said editor in chief Thom Calandra. "With Backflip, our readers will rediscover important articles they've found on our site, and then come back to us for more."
In addition to providing an award-winning service to their users, websites in the Backflip Network can also learn what their users (in aggregate) find important on their site and on the Web as a whole. This feedback provides partners with valuable editorial and marketing insight based on what users find important after they've clicked to a page, rather than just the pure clickstream data indicating someone was there.
